Alex Kiragu is the Agribusiness Relationship Manager at Rafiki Microfinance Bank. He has over 8 year’s extensive experience in agrifinance with bias to small holder finance, value-chain finance, sustainable climate smart finance and agri-products & strategy development. He has developed and implemented a wide variety of practical application in various crops and livestock value chains. He holds a Regional Certificate in Agricultural Finance from Kenya School of Monetary Studies and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Development Finance at Strathmore University
His most recent engagements include:
- Development and implementation of the Agribusiness Strategy (2019-2021) and product realignment at Rafiki Microfinance Bank
- Design and roll-out of key partnerships: New KCC and Rafiki MFB partnership (Issued Kes. 2.3Billion, reached to 87,000 small scale farmers); PROFIT programme (Revolving fund of 93.4M) ; FICCF (UKAID) development Programme (On-lending amount of Kes. 32M in climate resilient value chains)
- Formulation of key value chain products; Kilimo Advance, Warehouse Receipt Finance product, Tea financing, Coffee financing and Cassava financing products
- Conducted a joint research on “Bridging the Gap – The role of Data in Deepening Smallholder Farmer Financing” on consultancy basis for AGRA
